The “DREAM” Sustainable Coffee Sales

Coffee was never this good!

The Dominican Republic Education And Mentoring (The DREAM Project) is proud to announce its coffee fundraiser. We are selling organic, shade grown, fair trade coffee in order to raise funds for an educational NGO working directly with the farming communities producing the coffee. These sales will not only help support farmers who are producing a specialty coffee in sustainable ways that protect the environment, but the proceeds also help fund schools that teach literacy in these communities.

The DREAM Project is a US 501c3 nonprofit organization that provides equal access to quality education for children born into poverty in rural areas and small communities of the Dominican Republic. DREAM combines volunteerism, international awareness, and community involvement in a sustainable support system.

The DREAM Project has partnered with Fundación-Finca Alta Gracia and Vermont Coffee Company www.vermontcoffeecompany.com to market this sustainable coffee. Alta Gracia is a private, community-run coffee farm in the village of Los Marranitos in the Dominican Republic founded by Dominican-American author, Julia Alvarez, and Bill Eichner, her husband, a physician and farmer.

Alta Gracia is one of the eight programs that fall under DREAM’s umbrella. DREAM offers literacy classes for village children and adults and English classes at night for farmers who work in their fields all day. The school at Alta Gracia Library enriches the whole community by sparking a genuine interest in reading and learning and encouraging community members to help themselves.

The VT Coffee Company recommends NOT freezing your coffee, due to the condensation that forms, which affects the taste once brewed.
