Flood Relief in Cabarete

Many people have reached out to ask how they can help DREAM Project provide support to the victims of the floods in abarete, Sosúa, and surrounding areas. After almost 10 days of operating a refuge shelter at the DREAM Center and hosting close to 200 families, we are concentrating our efforts on relaunching educational activities at the school while helping support families who have been affected. On Monday November 21st, the DREAM Project established a temporary logistics center in Cabarete with staff and volunteers assigned to receive, sort, and distribute donations.

Now that the sun is out, we aim to help displaced families return to a certain level of normalcy by giving them the tools necessary to reintegrate in their homes as soon as possible. Due to the floods, many people have lost what little they had, and we would like to help them in this critical time.

We aim to equip the largest number of families possible with a “Relief Kit”  that will include:

- Mattresses or mats
- Sheets
- Towels
- Mosquito nets
- Repellents
- Cleaning material (bucket, mop, chlorine, detergent and garbage bags)
- Personal hygiene materials (soap, shampoo, toothpaste and toothbrushes, toilet paper, disinfectant soap)
- 5 liters of water

The value of this basket is more than RD $18,000, and we are trying to buy most of it at cost (with a per basket budget of RD $ 9,000). Any items on this list that can be donated will help us lower the average cost of the baskets and thus help more families. We are also in contact withmanufacturers and large distributors of these items to receive quotes for bulk prices so that we can get greater impact from cash donations.

Residents or visitors in the Dominican Republic can help by contributing these essential items, dropping them off at our main office in Plaza Novus Mare in Cabarete, or sending them via Metro or Caribe Tours to the attention of DREAM PROJECT CABARETE, telephone 809-571-0497.

If you would like to make a cash donation, you can do so through our website: www.dominicandream.org or via direct deposit into the account of D.R.E.A.M (RNC 430041612) at Banco Popular (current account in pesos # 777992579).

A formal tax receipt will be sent to you if you provide us with the necessary information (email address, RNC number and full name of your company).

If you wish to send your contribution from abroad, the easiest way to do so is through our donation link.  Thank you in advance for your support and concern for our communities in Sosúa and Cabarete.

We will keep you updated on our progress. Thank you for your support!
