Patrick Coad joined the DREAM team in July, 2018. Growing up in Indiana, he earned his BA in political science and Latin American and Caribbean studies from COAS and his MPA from SPEA at Indiana University. Over the last 15 years he has held multiple and diverse positions as an educator, administrator, and consultant. His commitment to service began while leading an academic enrichment and mentoring program for at-risk youth as an AmeriCorps volunteer. He also worked as the festival volunteer coordinator for the Lotus World Music and Arts Festival and served on multiple volunteer committees during this time. From there, Patrick moved to Nicaragua as a Peace Corps volunteer working as a TEFL teacher trainer. Patrick’s time in Nicaragua solidified his dedication creating transformative education and leadership programs to eradicate extreme poverty. Since then he has gained valuable experience serving vulnerable populations in India, Kenya, Ethiopia, Guatemala, and the Dominican Republic. He worked as an independent consultant to the National Academy of the Sciences evaluating the economic impact of foreign entrepreneurs in the US. He has a passion for diverse cultural experiences, learning new languages, and is a student of leadership. When he is not working, Patrick can be found camping out on top of the nearest mountain or rafting the closest river.
