Local Volunteers

Some of our most valuable volunteers live and work right in Cabarete. Whether you’re an expat or a local Dominican living in the community, you can contribute to DREAM’s programs. We also welcome short-term volunteers who desire a service opportunity as part of a shorter visit to the area. Local and short-term volunteers have the flexibility to develop a personalized schedule that is based on current program needs. Past local and short-term volunteers have served as classroom assistants, dance and music teachers, English conversation partners, assistant librarians, photographers, support staff at special events, and more! If you are a local resident who would like to volunteer, please feel free to stop by our office located in Plaza Novus Mare, above the Orange shop, on the Carretera Principal or call 809-571-0497. We would love to have your support. To formally apply, please download and complete the Part Time Volunteer Application (click here for Spanish version) and drop it off at the main office or email it to info@dominicandream.org. Any part-time or local volunteer working with children will be required to complete a background check.

Short-Term Visiting Volunteers

Each year we receive many inquiries from people who want to volunteer with DREAM for a short period of time while on vacation in the Dominican Republic. We normally only accept volunteers into our official volunteer programs (Yearlong or Summer Camp) due to the cost of oversight, management, and sometimes ineffectiveness of short-term volunteers. However, if you have a valuable skill such as accounting, translation abilities, or website management, or are able to provide planned workshops for the children, we would love to hear from you. Please send a resume and plan of action to info@dominicandream.org and we will arrange a time to meet and work out a volunteer schedule.
