Student Trips
The DREAM Project customizes student trips to meet the needs of our
visiting groups. Depending on the goals, skills, and desired experiences,
our experienced local guides will match your group with a community
project and trip that best suit your students.
Most of our groups focus on service learning. By capitalizing on the
talents that the students have to offer, it is DREAM’s hope that the
students will be able to have a lasting impact on the community members
whom they serve. Whether a group decides to help with construction projects,
spend a typical day in the campo, paint schools, plant gardens, design
playgrounds or provide peer-mentoring for local youth groups, DREAM
develops trips that emphasize the value of a cross-cultural experience
in the Dominican Republic.
DREAM can organize student trips for groups with between 10 and 16 members.
High school groups must be accompanied by at least one chaperone. The
minimum per-person cost for a trip is $110 per day, which includes transportation
to and from Puerto Plata airport, experienced local guides, all meals
and snacks, accommodations, drinking water, transportation to and from
work sites, one complementary chaperone and fees for some activities
and excursions. This fee does not include airfare, personal spending
money or additional excursions.
Please note that this is the minimum cost of a group trip. Some customized
trips may cost more. Due to the size of our organization and the vital
educational programs we provide to children in poverty in the Dominican
Republic, we are unable to offer scholarships to groups. We suggest
a coffee fundraiser
to offset the cost of a DREAM trip.
