Sponsor a Volunteer

Volunteers form the core of our organization. They bring knowledge, enthusiasm, and a love for education into classrooms of children that are starved for meaningful learning.

Under the supervision and training of DREAM staff, volunteers past and present have built schools, led youth groups, taught English classes, trained teachers, developed curricula, and, most importantly, given children access to a better education.

While volunteers can give more individualized attention to the children in the often overcrowded schools, it is through modeling and teacher training that they leave their mark. To develop sustainability in quality education, the volunteer’s job is to inspire, support, and train our Dominican teachers, not to take their place.
Volunteers bring with them a desire to give of themselves and to serve to the best of their abilities. They are able to dedicate 100 % of their time and energy to the children. Such a spirit is contagious and reemphasizes for the teaching staff the importance of our work.

Volunteers bridge intercultural understandings by forming personal relationships with students and community members. They also bring fresh ideas and perspectives to our organization that help us meet the challenges of our daily operations.

From recent college graduates to certified teachers, volunteers are highly motivated and skilled individuals who The DREAM Project otherwise could not afford to hire in the Dominican Republic. Yet to fullfill our mission and improve the quality of education for children in poverty, we cannot function without volunteers.

While many people are willing to donate their time for this cause, the cost of spending a year abroad can prove prohibitive. Your sponsorship of a volunteer will ensure that we can continue to train teachers, bring enthusiasm into the schools, and reach the children that need us most. One person can make a difference. A partnership between a volunteer and a generous sponsor can change the course of education for countless children.

A donation of $10,000 will allow one volunteer to spend a year serving the underpriviledged children of the Dominican Republic. The donation covers food, housing, training, and staff support.
